Thenkoodu SHG Training Center

This was established to provide skill training to our own self groups members and make
them entrepreneur. We offer skill trainings in 43 trades in this training centre. So far
we have given 35 batches of skill training in various skills. This centre is supported
by Auxilium ITI, Tirupattur for all technical guidance. We have networked and organized
skill training programmes for BPL women in the municipalities and SHGs of other NGOs in
three districts. This training centre awarded ‘A’ grade by District Rural Development
Agency (DRDA), Krishnagriri. This centre has organized trainings along with NABARD,
DRDA, Coir Board, DIC, Municipalities and BDO offices.

Catching the Poorest of Poor

This Thenkoodu SHG federation Training Centre ayes by Auxilium Technical Training Centre
located at Tirupattur. Surabi – Tirupattur Program Project has been successful in
identifying the rural entrepreneurial among Self help Groups and make them to start their
own Income Generation program (IGP). This training Centre has offered many training
programs to the government bodies.

The Centre providing effective training for better opportunities. All the training
sessions are conducted with focus on skill training. To co-operate with present
situation, the centre is equipped with advanced machinery equipment with all
necessary working tools for effective learning.

Separate syllabus has been developed for each trade after consultation with
expertise. Periodical assessment and insulation is made to upgrade the training
based on the demand of Self help groups.

Qualified and equipped technical personnel impart of effective training to the
candidates. They are committed to the organization’s mission of creating rural
entrepreneurial.

Experts from various filed are invited to the centre from time to time to upgrade
the quality of training centre. Apart from skill training the centre provides
business consultancy to Self help groups, Marketing outlet to the SHG products,
and building peoples organization. This helps them develop a good attitude and
confidence for effective use of the skills for a sustained livelihood.

The project thus concentrates to develop the training centre as a model institute to
support the unskilled women, men and youth in rural areas. The centre is striving to
mobilize resources by organizing meetings and contacts with various donors, educational
institutions, etc. Periodical meetings and exposure with the SHGs, NGOs and other CBOs
in the project working area are conducted regularly for creating awareness on the
intervention. Yet there’s a lot that needs to done for the success of our interventions
and we are committed to achieve our goals.
